The ‘Cumilla Nationalist Lawyer Oikya Parishad’ panel, backed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat, has secured an overwhelming 13 out of 15 positions. The results, announced on Friday morning, followed a peaceful election held on Tuesday, April 2nd, with voting from 9 AM to 5 PM. The winning panel’s candidates include Sahid Ullah (Jamaat) for President and Mahbubul Haque Khandaker (BNP) for General Secretary. This victory marks a striking defeat for the Awami League-backed panel, which only managed to clinch two positions. The BNP secured eight seats and Jamaat five within the winning coalition. The election saw a total of 1287 voters, with 1253 votes cast without any untoward incidents. The vote counting concluded overnight, with results published by 11 AM on Friday.
